The development sequence

The six stages follow a clear sequence from identifying a development need to planning an informed next step.

  1. ASSESS

    Establish the relevant starting point and development need where an approved programme requires assessment.

  2. UNDERSTAND

    Build the concepts, context, and professional reasoning needed to approach the capability responsibly.

  3. APPLY

    Use learning through approved practice or practical work suited to the programme.

  4. REVIEW

    Consider work, feedback, and development against the review method approved for the programme.

  5. PROVE

    Present the approved evidence of capability where evidence is required.

  6. ADVANCE

    Use the learning and review to plan an informed next professional, organisational, or business step.

Programme and policy boundaries

  • Exact assessment, evidence, review, completion, and credential requirements vary by programme and approved policy.
  • A stage may be Not Applicable where an approved programme does not require it.
  • Not every Journey requires written assignments; approved practice and evidence formats depend on the programme.
  • Following this model does not guarantee certification, a Skill Passport, employment, title, income, clients, or commercial success.
